Bulletproof Coffee…Is That The One That You Put Butter In?!
So most people who follow a low carb or keto lifestyle have heard of Bulletproof Coffee but a lot of people hesitate to try it because of the added butter & oil. I have to admit when I first heard of this, I really wasn’t sure and I stuck to my black coffee with double cream. But having tried it I can say it definitely helps with keeping you feeling full and gives you a boost when you need it!
Wait…Why Would You Add Oil To Coffee?!
Well my lovelies the fat together with the caffeine from the coffee, will give you a massive energy boost giving you a great start to your morning! If you aren’t a caffeine bunny you could always try this with decaf instead. You wont get quite the same boost of energy but it will still leave you feeling satisfied.
The fat from the butter and oil that are added help curb your appetite, leave you feeling satisfied and full. If it’s your first time trying bulletproof coffee it might be a good idea to start with a small amount of fat and adjust it to your taste. As I was used to having quite a bit of double cream in my coffee, I didn’t find the taste too difficult to adjust to as I was used to it. However some people can find they get stomach issues if they add too much fat at once.
So Will It Make Me Loose Weight?!
Sorry to disappoint guys but there isn’t really any evidence anywhere to show this will help with weight loss. This is mainly for those looking for a lasting feeling of having eaten and also a energy boost in a quick hit.
That being said, you might loose a few pounds by drinking this instead of eating brekky. But you would probably loose more if you were to follow an intermittent fast and have a black coffee with a little milk if you really needed it.
What You’ll Need
- 1 Cup of Freshly Brewed Coffee
- 2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 1 Tbsp MCT oil or Coconut Oil
Make your coffee as normal, add the butter & oil and blend until it is a smooth, frothy consistency and enjoy! Its as simple as that!!

So there you have it the basic recipe along with some of the benefits of the bulletproof coffee. Sorry if I’ve burst any bubbles out there! I know some of you were hoping for a miracle drink and I can’t lie so was I when I first heard about this! However you can always add flavours to your bulletproof coffee to tailor it to your own taste, sometimes I’ll add some cocoa powder to mine so it feels like a treat – I love a mocha!
